“Here, the cool Monterey climate maintains optimum acidity to balance the grapes’ rich cherry character.”
A husband and wife team, owners Mike and Tina Cox, share a love of Pinot Noir. The name Mayro-Murdick comes from the first names of their paternal grandfathers, whose names are as distinctive as the wines the Cox family produces. They believe that Carneros is producing some of the most unique, rich and true Pinot Noirs available today.
The 2005 vintage was another ripe vintage, the cool Monterey climate helped keep over-ripeness in check and balanced sweetness with acidity. These factors made it a special year, and led us to offer a special wine. We age this wine like our Carneros offering of Mayro-Murdick-16 months in French Oak barrels. This effectively balances the cherry and the earthiness of these Beaujolais-cloned vineyards. We believe that this wine makes a beautiful partner to our 2005 Mayro-Murdick, Carneros, and deserves a spot in your cellar.
